The Batavia Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Erik Poggi as the new leader of the Bulldogs Boys’ Basketball Program, pending Batavia Board of Education approval at the May18th meeting. He succeeds Coach Aaron Brose who retired from basketball coaching this spring. Coach Poggi has been the Bulldogs JV Boys’ Basketball Coach for the past seven years. He has also been the Bulldogs Varsity Boys’ Soccer Coach for the past five years. Coach Poggi is a very passionate and dedicated coach for Batavia. He builds strong relationships with stakeholders and is student-athlete and team focused in his priority for growth and success. As the Bulldogs JV Boys’ Coach, Poggi has played an instrumental role in the development of our student-athletes. He has done an excellent job, during his tenure, of preparing his players for the Varsity level. We believe that Coach Poggi will be able to continue to build on the previous success of the Bulldogs Boys’ Basketball program. As the new Bulldogs Head Coach, Coach Poggi brings a familiarity to the Bulldogs Boys’ Basketball program, giving continuity for our student-athletes. Coach Poggi understands all aspects of building a program, including partnering with the youth leagues and middle school programs to develop our future Bulldogs and to prepare our current Bulldogs for life after high school. We are excited for Coach Poggi to continue his leadership within the Batavia Athletic Department this winter! We feel that he brings great basketball knowledge, discipline, energy, positivity, and an overall understanding of coaching student-athletes to perform at a high level within our school and community
