The Batavia Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Collin Ferguson as the new leader of the Bulldogs Boys’ Soccer Program pending Batavia Board of Education approval at the May 18th meeting. He succeeds Coach Erik Poggi who resigned from the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Head Coach position to become the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Head Coach. Coach Ferguson has been the Bulldogs JV Girls’ Soccer Coach for the past two years. He was also an assistant in the Bulldogs high school track program. Ferguson also started the Batavia E-Sports program that had its Fortnite team qualify for the E-Sports State Tournament during its first year of existence in 2025-2026. Coach Ferguson has developed a strong passion for soccer that has carried him through his playing and coaching career. He earned a four-year varsity letter in high school, which reflected his dedication, leadership, and consistency on the field. That experience led Coach Ferguson to continue playing at Wilmington College for two years at the collegiate level. After his playing career, Coach Ferguson transitioned into coaching to give back to the game and help develop the next generation of players. He started as an assistant girls’ coach at Lebanon High School, where he spent one season helping build skills and team culture. Coach Ferguson then left Lebanon for his current roles at Batavia which includes being a dynamic social studies teacher at Batavia High School At the club level, Coach Ferguson has had the opportunity to work with a variety of age groups, including two years coaching 2011 girls at Kings Hammer North, where he emphasized technical development and game understanding. Over the past two years, he has coached the 2017 boys at Alliance Soccer Club, focusing on foundational skills, fostering a love for the game, and creating a positive, growth-oriented environment. We are excited for Coach Ferguson to continue his leadership within the Batavia Athletic Department this fall as the boys’ soccer coach! We feel that he brings a passion about developing players both on and off the field while striving to combine his playing experience with a commitment to teaching, mentorship, and long-term development.
